The appeal for The Lizard’s new Tamar class all-weather lifeboat was launched in the summer of 2009 by the now retired Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Lady Mary Holborow. During the nationwide Appeal of £1.8 million, our local target of £300,000 was exceeded in little over two years, an amazing achievement in such difficult times. The fundraising response from individuals, businesses and organisations both locally and nationally was outstanding and we cannot thank everyone enough.
