| Visitors are always welcome to visit the boathouse, but remember it is at the foot of 200 steep steps that seem even steeper on the way back up !! The Boathouse is normally open from Monday to Fridays from 9am to 2pm, however please bear in mind that it is an operational station and that working duties, let alone emergencies, may prevent visitors from entering the boathouse at certain times. |
The station sits in one of the most remote and rugged settings in the whole of Great Britain, At the foot of a 140ft (45 metre) cliff and less than a mile from England’s most southerly point. Its wild location means that every time the boat is launched, the crew have to run down more than 200 steep steps from the station car park to the boathouse in Kilcobben cove. Given the nature of the rocky coasts all around, this is the best setting for the Lizard boat in its long history. |
Directions:
From Helston take the road A3083 to The Lizard
From the The Lizard Village take the road to Church Cove (it is sign posted)
You will pass the church on your left (Please park in the car park just beyond the church) then follow the road down on foot until you see a gated entrance on the right signed
The Lizard Lifeboat, follow the path through the field up to the station. |
